Summary
We seek a strategic, collaborative and entrepreneurial Director of Consumer Insights who will serve as the primary voice of the Ask.com user to our organization. You will provide meaningful, business-moving insights to inform our product innovation and marketing strategy, working closely with business leaders to bring these insights into practice.
You must be excellent at distilling multiple pieces of data and analysis to tell the story of how our users view us, what unmet opportunities exist to serve our users' needs and how we can make our users feel as passionately about our products as we do.
You are deeply familiar with a wide variety of research techniques and can abstract and articulate the big picture while paying attention to the mission-critical details that create the story.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary user advocate at Ask.com, ensuring that product development is forward looking, reflective and solves real consumer needs.
- Partner with internal clients to champion, define, and deliver business-moving research and analysis, and work with these clients to apply insights gained to create material business value.
- Employ a full range of research techniques to accomplish these objectives and develop a deep understanding of our core users, marketplace, competitors, and emerging trends. Key tactics in your arsenal will include brand & product research, customer satisfaction research, customer feedback in emerging channels, competitive reporting, behavioral data, and UX testing.
Other Duties:
- Provide qualitative and quantitative measures of product, marketing, and brand performance.
- Deliver required supporting data, reporting, and analysis/business insights for cross-departmental needs.
- Understand the linkages between marketing, communications and product activities on key success metrics and long-term user sentiment and behavior.
- Work with internal clients and external agency partners to gather and analyze data to optimize marketing measurement process.
- Produce competitive product assessments and work with UX team to ensure that Ask.com meets real user needs.
- Provide thought leadership to the organization with regards to the best ways to answer key business questions, recommending research and analytical techniques.
- Answer burning business questions with analysis, while being forward-thinking and generating insights in anticipation of internal client needs.
- Develop hypotheses about user behavior that can be tested through research or site testing.
- Manage vendor relationships with key business partners.
- Keep up to date on the latest relevant trends, tools, and competitive activity.
Required Skills & Experience
- 6 - 8 years experience in combining consumer marketing research, behavioral analysis, and industry observations to generate powerful consumer insights, having deployed these insights to produce meaningful business impact.
- Proven ability to design and lead time-sensitive strategic research projects involving the full research lifestyle: methodological assessment, execution, analysis and strategic recommendations development, and presentation of findings to Senior Management.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to effectively multi-task in a deadline driven atmosphere.
- Intimate knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research techniques; highly analytical
- Understanding of site measurement tools and cookie analysis
- Minimum of a Bachelors degree in a related field.
- Demonstrated data analysis skills with proven ability to marry data analysis with solid strategic insight and judgment.
- Outstanding presentation and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of statistical modeling techniques, segmentation, lifetime value, ROI.
- Firsthand knowledge of a wide variety of qualitative research techniques.
- Excellent oral and written skills.
- Strong inter-personal skills.
- Excel, Powerpoint, Word.
- Online experience preferred.
